9.2 METHODOLOGY TO UPDATE THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL
ECOTECH ITALIA Srl reserves the right to modify the design and make improvements to the machine without informing
Customers, and without updating the Manual already given to users.
Moreover, if the machine installed at a Customer's facilities undergoes some modifications, agreed on with the Producer and
requiring one or more chapters of the Instruction Manual to be modified, the producer will send the Instruction Manual holders
in question the modified chapters, with a new overall revision model.
The user is responsible to replace all the copies in his/her possession of the old chapters, the initial page and the table of
contents with those of the new revision, in compliance with the instructions provided along with the updated documentation.
ECOTECH ITALIA Srl is responsible for the descriptions reported in Italian; any translations cannot be fully checked, therefore, if
a discrepancy is found, the Italian version should be referred to and, if necessary, you should get in touch with our commercial
office,
which will perform any necessary modifications.
9.3 GLOSSARY
This section lists uncommon terms or terms used with meanings different from the usual ones.
The abbreviations used are explained below.
9.3.1 Glossary (Encl. I p. 1.1.1 Dir. 2006/42/EC)
• DANGER: A potential source of physical or health damage;
• DANGEROUS ZONE: Any zone inside and/or near a machine where people's safety and health are at risk;
• RISK: A combination of the probability and severity of physical or health damage which may be suffered in a dangerous
situation;
COVER: An element in the machine specifically used to ensure protection by means of a concrete barrier;

PROTECTION DEVICE: A device (different from a cover) which lowers the risk, either alone or associated with a cover;
•
EXPECTED USE: Use of the machine in compliance with the information provided in the user manual;
•
REASONABLY EXPECTABLE IMPROPER USE: Use of the machine different from what is reported in the user manual, but
•
which may be due to easily predictable human behaviour.
9.3.2 Other definitions
• EXPOSED PERSON: Any person who is totally or partially in a dangerous zone;
OPERATOR: A person who installs, operates, adjusts, cleans, repairs or moves a machine and performs maintenance
•
operations;
QUALIFIED PERSON or QUALIFIED OPERATOR: A person who has attended specialization courses, training courses or
•
other education activities and has achieved experience about the installation, operation and maintenance, repair and
transportation of the machine.
• PERSON-MACHINE INTERACTION: Any situation in which an operator interacts with the machine in any operating
phase at any time in the life cycle of the machine;
• OPERATOR'S QUALIFICATION: Minimum skill level which an operator must have in order to carry out a given operation;
• NUMBER OF OPERATORS: Suitable number of operators to perform a given operation in the best possible way,
calculated on the basis of a careful analysis carried out by the producer, proving that using a different number of
operators might not result in the expected outcome or might compromise the safety of the operators involved;
STATE OF THE MACHINE: State of the machine includes its working mode, for instance automatic operation, stop, etc.,
•
the condition of the safety measures present on the machine, for instance protectors included or protectors excluded,
emergency stop pushed, type of isolation of energy sources, etc.;
• REMAINING RISK: Risks remaining, though the protection measures integrated in the design of the machine have been
adopted and despite any complementary protections and measures applied;
• SAFETY COMPONENT: Component designed to perform a safety function, whose fault and/or malfunction jeopardizes
people's safety.
