Print quality problems
The background is dark or dirty
Cause
The setting of Density or
Adjust intensity may be
dark.
The paper path inside the
printer may be dusty.
You may not be using the
correct type of paper for
your printer.
There may be a problem
with the imaging cartridge.
What to do
Lighten Density in the printer driver
of Windows or Adjust intensity in
the printer driver of Macintosh.
Turn off the printer. Clean the paper
path inside the printer using
well-wrung cloth. Clean the internal
printer components by printing three
pages with only one character per
page.
If the surface of your paper is too
rough, printed characters may
appear distorted or broken. Smooth,
high-quality copier paper is
recommended for best results. See
"Specifications" on page 153 for
information on choosing paper.
Remove the cartridge, shake it gently
from side to side, and then reinstall
it. If this does not solve the problem,
replace the imaging cartridge. For
more information, see "Replacing"
on page 113 .
