Locality is especially important for good performance:
• Interrupts and applications should be on the same package.
• Multiple receiving threads should share an L3 cache.
The X3522 typically puts a higher load on the CPU than its predecessors, and some rebalancing
might be required:
• Onload sending is always done with CTPIO, and this uses more CPU than sending with DMA.
• The net driver refills the RX ring. Depending on traffic rate, it might need more CPU time:
The net driver must check every frame, even those destined for Onload.
Configuring all-but-one core isolated from kernel threads is no longer viable for higher
traffic rates.
