Manual Buttonhole

A buttonhole longer than 2.5 cm (1")
can be sewn by manual buttonhole,
using the foot B.

Pull the buttonhole lever downward as far as it
will go.
Lower the needle into the garment where the
buttonhole is to start, and lower the foot.
The manual buttonhole is used
also for sewing a buttonhole at
the edge of an outlet seam of
collars or waist belts.

Sew the front bartack and left row, then stop
the machine after sewing the desired total
length of buttonhole.
Pull the buttonhole lever toward you.

Raise the needle and presser bar. Attach the
buttonhole foot B. Select the pattern BH.

Sew the back bartack and right row, then stop
the machine at the starting point.
* To cut the opening and to reset for sewing
the next buttonhole, refer to the instructions
on page 20.
