Direct Protocol –
Stored Mode
ERPLabel v. 2.0 for SAP R/3 – Installation & Operation Ed. 1
The settings for the Direct protocol Stored Mode are similar to those
of Host Mode, with following exceptions.
Layout tab
• Store layout when printing
The user will be prompted for the name to be used for the stored
label.
The Direct Protocol uses some printable characters in the commu-
nication protocol. These are user definable, but are preset to:
Start of record
End of record
Field separator
The samples and empty labels are set to these values, but may be
restored to the system defaults if you select a different printer model.
The LabelShop default settings can not be used, as they contain
non-printable characters, which SAPscripts prohibits. In case this
is made by mistake, ERPLabel will abort the operation and warn
the user.
If the characters above must be used in the label (as variable data),
the characters can be changed to any printable ASCII values, which
are not used in any text.
There is also a possibility to override the protocol to use more than
one character. In such a case there will be no limitation in using any
single character in a text. This is done in the specific ERPLabel
Setup program, which is described on pages 31–34.
