Chapter 2 Installing and Operating
Class I/NFL
Caution, Risk of fire!
The Class I/NFL series of the equipment is designed for operation with non-flammable heat
transfer liquids only! Water and mixture of water and glycol are the most popular non-flammable
heat transfer liquids appropriate for the equipment.
No silicone oil is allowed for use with this series of the equipment. The internal silicone rubber parts
may swell when in contact with silicone oil resulting in leakage of the liquid!
Class III/FL
Caution, Risk of fire!
The Class III/FL series of equipment are designed for operation with non-flammable and
flammable heat transfer liquids! Alcohol and silicone oils are the most common flammable
heat transfer liquids. Use special care when using with these flammable liquids, including the
proper setting of the adjustable overheating protection device.
Caution, Hazard of overflowing or low level!
Never attempt to initiate the equipment if no heat transfer liquid is filled or filling volume is lower
than the minimum level as specified; Never move the equipment if the bath tank is fully filled with
the heat transfer liquid; The liquid level may change with the heating and cooling of the
equipment!
Disconnect the application system from the equipment only after proper draining of the heat
transfer liquid, especially when the application system is charged to maximum volume by
additional filling of the liquid! The liquid level will change significantly with the immersion or
removal of the specimen!
