6.2 Maintenance of the chain fitting
The guide bar must be maintained at regular intervals. This includes lubricating the chain deflection wheel and
deburring the guide bar.
Use the following procedure to maintain the
guide bar:
1.
Remove the guide bar together with the saw
chain.

2.
Put guide bar and saw chain on a flat surface.
3.
Clean the lubrication bore. (See arrow in the
figure)
4.
Firmly insert the mouth piece of a grease gun
into the lubrication bore and inject grease until
it emerges at the deflection.
Use only acid-free bearing grease.

5.
Remove the saw chain from the guide bar.
6.
Using a flat file, remove any burrs from the
guide bar.
7.
Reinstall the guide bar together with the saw
chain into the machine.

6.3 Sprocket wheel
The stress on the sprocket wheel is particularly
high. The sprocket wheel must be replaced if it
shows clearly visible signs of wear on the individual
teeth (28).
We recommend that this work be carried out by an
authorized MAFELL service workshop.
