3. A PRP-2 in the Cisco XR 12000 Series Router does not support a single memory card of 3-GB but it supports a combination
of 1 GB on one DIMM and 2 GB on other DIMM.
4. The larger DIMM must be placed in Bank 1 (U15).

If your system includes redundant PRPs, both PRPs should have the same memory
size. Redundancy is not supported when using a GRP and a PRP in the same
chassis. Cisco strongly recommends that you avoid configuring your router using
mixed route processor cards. Refer to the Route Processor Redundancy Plus for
the Cisco 12000 Series Internet Router publication for more information.
Only Cisco-approved memory is supported. Do not attempt to install other devices
or non-Cisco approved DIMMs in the DIMM sockets. (See
Table
16.)
To remove a DIMM from a line card, follow these steps:
Attach an ESD-preventive wrist or ankle strap and follow its instructions for use.
Place the line card on an antistatic mat so that the faceplate is nearest to you.
Locate the DIMM sockets on the line card.
