Installation instructions
Location
IMPORTANT:
To function correctly, install the DPS antenna at a loca-
tion with an unimpeded view of the sky and horizon.
During installation of the DPS antenna, the following must
be considered (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2).
Maximum ±2º of yaw angle.
Make sure that the installation is positioned as cen-
tered as possible. The ideal position for the installa-
tion is as close as possible to the centre of rotation of
the boat.
To minimize vibrations, the DPS antenna should be
mounted on a rigid surface. Measure the angle with
an electronic inclinometer on the boat.
The arrow located on the underside of the antenna
indicates the forward position and must be directed
towards the bow.
Do not run cable next to or parallel with fluorescent
lightning, engines or radio transmission equipment.
Make sure the cable is 30 cm away from any VHF
cables the first 5 meters. Close contact can cause
interference.
Use suitable fasteners, deck bushings, cable ties and
sealant to secure the cable along the cable run and
through any bulkheads or decks.
Cellular phones and radio transmitters can interfere
with DPS operations. A clearance of 1 m from the
DPS gateway, and 1.5 m from the DPS antenna is
recommended.
Due to emission spectrum, make sure to install any
VHF antenna far away as possible to the DPS anten-
na.
Never paint the DPS antenna. Paint can cause jam-
ming problems.

NOTICE!
3
Remove any unessecary slack at V200 end as it can
3
cause damage to the connector.

1.
Install the cable to the DPS antenna, 5-pin connector.
4
Cable length is 10 m (32 ft).

NOTICE!

1
It is possible to extend the cable connection between
the DPS antenna and the DPS Gateway up to a total
2
of 40 m (131.2 ft). If this is necessary, order a EVC
1
extension cable. See EVC Installation Poster for more
details.
1
2.
Select a suitable location on the boat for the DPS
2
antenna. The usual placement of the DPS antenna is
3
on the radar arch.

3.
Cut out the hole template and tape it to the necessary
position. Make sure that the hole markings are in
the fore-and-aft direction. The arrow on the template
must point towards the bow. Use the template at the
back of this instruction.
4.
Select and mark a grommet position for the antenna
cable behind the DPS to make sure that no damage
can be caused to the cable. Damage can otherwise
be caused by mechanical or human activities (Fig. 3).
5.
Drill a Ø12 mm hole at the marked position.
6.
Brush marine sealant on the underside of the cable
grommet (2) and the screws (3).
Position the grommet over the Ø12 mm hole, and
screw it in place with the screws (3).
NOTICE!
Slide the rubber sleeve over the cable, and point the
tapered end away from the union nut. If necessary, ap-
ply a little soapy water to the inside of the rubber sleeve
to make the cable run easier. The rubber sleeve (B) is
tapered externally and fits into a similarly tapered hole
in the union (C).
7.
Push the antenna cable through the cable grommet
union nut (A) and rubber sleeve (B).
8.
Pull the cable through the grommet hole (C).
Alternately, push and pull the cable carefully through
the hole from above and below.
