Identifying and Resolving
a Low-Battery Condition
When a battery pack powering the computer reaches a low-battery
condition, the battery light begins blinking and the system begins
beeping three times about every minute.
If you have disabled the low-battery warning beeps, the
NOTE:
blinking battery light may be the only indication of a low-battery
condition.
To resolve a low-battery condition, save your work, then take one
of the following steps:
Initiate Suspend and immediately replace the discharged
battery pack with a fully charged battery pack.
Connect to an external power source to charge the battery pack
in the computer.
Initiate Hibernation or shut down the computer until an
external power source or a charged battery pack is available.
If you do not resolve the low-battery condition and the computer
reaches a critical low-battery condition, the computer beeps twice,
saves data to a Hibernation file, and shuts down.
If you have turned off Hibernation, the computer beeps twice,
initiates Suspend, and the power/suspend light begins blinking
along with the battery light. If you do not resolve the critical low-
battery condition, unsaved work is lost when the computer shuts
down.
