ROUBLESHOOTING
This chapter provides solutions to some common problems. If you
have a problem with the computer, you may be able to easily
resolve it with solutions provided in this chapter. In addition to a
minor problems checklist, common problems and solutions are
provided for the following topics:

Battery/battery gauge
Diskettes/diskette drive
Hard drive
Hardware
Infrared
Keyboard/numeric keypad

NOTE:
ContentsÆTroubleshootingÆ[the problem], then follow
instructions to help identify and solve the problem.
If you are unable to solve a problem with the online Help and
solutions provided in this chapter, run the Computer Checkup
utility (see Chapter 16). If you find it necessary to call Compaq
customer support, you will be asked for the printed Computer
Checkup error message log or for a list of the error messages. See
Appendix A for information about calling Compaq.
