1. Turn on the target system with the GSU31 installed. During system boot-up, the message
Press Ctrl-C to run the RAID Configuration Utility appears in the display. Press Ctrl-C when
this message appears to execute the RCU.
2. Follow the screen instructions to create and configure a RAID volume. Ensure that the volume
is large enough and is designated as the boot device when creating the volume. You can verify
it is the boot volume after it has been created by using the custom configuration menu option
in the main menu of the RCU. Reboot when finished.
3. Set the system BIOS boot order. Most operating systems require that the RAID controller be
set as the first hard drive boot entry. Enter your system BIOS and ensure that the Intel
Integrated RAID entry appears as the first hard drive boot device.

Create an OS Installation Driver Diskette

There are two methods to create a GSU31 Installation Driver Diskette.
Method 1
1. Insert the GSU31 CD-ROM into a different system running Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000. The
CD-ROM's auto-run feature brings up a menu.
2. Click on the OS Install Diskettes button and then click on the appropriate button for your
operating system.
3. Insert a blank high-density diskette in drive A: and press Enter to create the GSU31
Installation Diskette.
Method 2
1. Insert the Intel Integrated RAID CD-ROM into the target system and restart the system to boot
from the CD-ROM.
2. When the ROM-DOS Startup Menu appears select option #1, Make Diskettes.
3. When the Select a diskette to create screen appears select the appropriate installation option
(depending on your OS). A command window appears.
4. Insert a blank high-density diskette in drive A: and press Enter to create the GSU31
Installation Diskette.
