7 Guide Sleeve, Dust Excluder, Retainer and Bush

NOTE
: It is possible that the guide sleeve dust excluder
remained attached to the Brake housing retainers and is therefore
removed with the housing.
Remove the guide sleeve screws retaining the guide sleeves to
the carrier Fig. 65
If necessary carefully release the guide sleeves from their location
on the carrier using a rubber or soft metal hammer.
Clean the guide sleeve contact areas and threaded holes in the
carrier. Check for wear. Replace the carrier if in doubt.
If carrier requires replacement, remove from axle and replace with
new carrier and new carrier mounting screws. Tighten screws to
the torque recommended by the vehicle manufactures.
J - Fitting new Guide Sleeves (24,26)
Long and Short
NOTE
: Only use the grease supplied with the replacement
components/kits. Under no circumstances should any other type
of grease be used.
The long guide sleeve and short guide sleeve need no alignment.
Locate in position on the carrier and secure with guide sleeve
screws.
Tighten the screw to the torque specified in section 8
Servicing and Specifications - (430 – 450 Nm).
Lightly lubricate the new guide sleeves and the guide sleeve dust
excluder, on the inside only, with the grease provided in the
service kit.
K - Fitting new Dust Excluders (12) –
Long and Short Guide Sleeves
Slide the dust excluders over the guide sleeves, ensure to locate
the excluder bead in the retainer groove on the carrier.

Apply grease to the guide sleeve bores in the housing.
WARNING:
Only use the grease supplied with the replacement
components/kits. Under no circumstance should any other
type of grease be used.
