Dividing a track during playback (DIVIDE)

Use the following procedure to divide a track into two by inserting a track number in its middle. For example, by
inserting an additional track number before the passage you are specially fond of, it is easy to skip to there when
you play the disc later. Note that the track numbers of the tracks located after the divided track are automatically
incremented.
The preview function can be used for fine adjustment
while repeatedly listening to the track division point.
Be sure to put the MD recorder in stop or pause mode.

Play the track to be divided.

Press the TRACK EDIT key at the desired position.

Before using the editing function, press the PGM/
CHARAC. key so that "TRACK" lights.
÷ When dividing a track, set the dividing point at more than
about 2 seconds after the beginning of the track.
Track division is sometimes impossible if one of the divided
section becomes shorted than about 2 seconds.
÷ If the operation is started during playback, it pauses automati-
cally.
÷ Editing is aborted if no operation has been performed for 8
seconds.

÷ Repeated playback from the division point will be performed
for about 3 sec.

÷ The dividing point can be fine-adjusted in 60 ms (6/100 sec.)
steps, between -31 and +31 assuming that the point where
the TRACK EDIT key was pressed is 0 (i.e. in the range
covering about 4 seconds).
