802.1x (PNAC) and 802.1q (VLAN) for Ethernet

802.1x is an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standard f or port-based
Network Access Control (PNAC). It provides an authentication mechanism to devices wishing to
attach to a LAN or WLAN (Ethernet).
IEEE 802.1X def ines the encapsulation of the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) to
exchange messages during the authentication process. Several authentication protocols that
operate inside the 802.1x f ramework are suitable f or wired networks. These protocols allow the
network to authenticate the client while also allowing the client to authenticate the network.
You can conf igure network security authentication to be 802.1x compliant over the Ethernet,
where it sends a username and password to your 802.1x authenticator, which verif ies the login
with the authentication server.
In addition, if your large network is split into virtual sub -networks to limit the range of broadcasts,
known as VLANs, and your network components support 802.1q compliant VLAN tagging, you
can assign a VLAN ID to tag the device as belonging to a specif ic VLAN.
In this release the CU360 supports EAP-MD5 (authentication based on username/password) on
the Ethernet f or 802.1x.
To enable 802.1x or 802.1q, in this release you need to access the GUI menu:
[GUI]C
Or the Android Settings; press Home key on the remote control, then swipe up to select the App
Drawer and the Settings app, or search f or Settings inside the Apps.

Enable: Select Yes if your device requires access to network resources via 802.1x
authentication.
Authentication: Select MD5.
Username, Password: Enter the 802.1x username and password.
Enable: Select Yes if your network is split into virtual networks (VLANs) and you want
to assign the device to one of them.
VLAN ID: Enter the ID of the VLAN to which this unit belongs, between 1 and 4094.
VLAN name: vlan, not modif iable in this release.
Important
If your network is not supporting 802.1x or 802.1q, enabling them could result in the
device not able to get an IP address.
