3.1 INTRODUCTION
This section contains operational instructions and installation checkout procedures for the CP-2500
Control Panel. This procedure assumes that the CP-2500 is interfaced to a Lynx
System (e.g. NGT-1000, NGT-2000, NGT-2500, NGT-9000R, NGT-9000RD, NGT-9000R+, or NGT-
9000RD+).
The Anonymous Mode (NGT-1000/-2000/-2500 only), Flight ID, ATAS
(NGT-9000R only), TAWS (NGT-9000R only), and Traffic (NGT-2000/-
2500 and NGT-9000R only) functions are optional and are enabled during
installation of the Lynx MultiLink Surveillance System (MSS).

3.2 OPERATION

The CP-2500 uses a concentric push knob and push buttons along with an eight-character display to
control and view the operation of the Lynx MSS. Messages received from the Lynx MSS are scrolled
across the display providing fault status and operation details. Specific details on the operation of the CP-
2500 can be found in the Pilot's Guides for the CP-2500 and Lynx MSS.
Press the small knob button to apply power to the control panel. To remove power to the unit press and
hold the small knob button until the message "Power Down" is shown on the display. Applying power to
the control panel does not apply power to the Lynx MSS.
The display of the CP-2500 shows the operational mode on the left side of the display and the squawk
code on the right side of the display as shown in Figure 3-1.
The four-digit squawk code may be missing when the "Alt" and "On" operational modes are on the
display (the code is shown in "Sby" mode). The squawk code is removed in order to show that the
Lynx MSS has a system message, system failure, or the GPS signal has been missing for more than
two minutes. (Note - Depending on the type of message being reported, the Squawk Code may still
be broadcast even when not displayed.)
An INVLD PA message is shown on the pressure altitude screen when no pressure altitude source is
available from the aircraft. In some installations, it may take 2-3 minutes after power on to receive
valid pressure altitude from the encoder.
Messages being received from the Lynx MSS have priority over normal display operation and are seen
scrolling across the display. Rotating the large knob scrolls through unseen messages and the normal
display operation (showing operational mode and squawk code). The display begins showing the highest
priority message again after 10 seconds of no activity.
(NGT-1000/-2000/-2500 only) The MODE A CODE PUSH TO ACCEPT XXXX message is
seen when there is a difference between the squawk code entered in the CP-2500 and the
transponder on the aircraft. Press the small knob button to change the CP-2500 code to the same
code as the transponder.
(NGT-1000/-2000/-2500 only) CODE MISMATCH - CHECK TRANSPONDER message is seen
when the Lynx MSS is not receiving a mode "A" code from the transponder. Verify the transponder
is powered on and in the "ALT" mode.
