Adjustment of spring

Uncoordinated settings of
spring preload and spring
strut damping.
Poorer handling.
Adjust damping characteristic
to changed spring preload.
To decrease spring deflection
(increase spring preload), turn
adjusting screws 1 with tool
from toolkit in direction A.
To increase spring deflection
(reduce spring preload), turn
adjusting screws 1 with tool
from toolkit in direction B.
Make sure that the same val-
ues are set on the left and
right.
Adjust spring preload on
front wheel
with Dynamic Damping Control
OE
(DDC)
Park motorcycle, ensuring that
support surface is firm and
level.
Start engine.
NOTICE
Before setting the spring preload,
completely relieve the motorcycle
and remove any pieces of lug-
gage.
Adjust the damping (DDC) on
ROAD in one-up.
Hold motorcycle vertically,
preferably with the help of a
second person (no side stand).
Measure the distance D be-
tween the lower edge 1 of the
slider tube and the front axle 2.
Load motorcycle with rider.
With the assistance of a sec-
ond person, measure the dis-
tance D between the points 1
and 2 again and calculate the
