Setting, storing and increasing
maximum speed
Variant 1
1. Accelerate the vehicle to the desired speed using
the accelerator pedal.
2. Press the control lever on the steering wheel
forward (Fig. 158) 1.
The current driving speed is now stored as the
maximum speed, which will be maintained
automatically.
Variant 2
e Press the control lever on the steering wheel
forward (Fig. 158) 1.
Brief press = 1 mph (1 km/h) increments, press
and hold = 5 mph (10 km/h) increments.
The new maximum speed is displayed on the in-
strument cluster.
Information
The maximum speed can also be set using the con-
trol lever on the steering wheel when the vehicle is in
"operational readiness" mode.
e Press the control lever on the steering wheel
forward once (Fig. 158) 1.
The preset maximum speed of 20 mph (30 km/
h) is displayed on the instrument cluster.
Reducing the stored maximum
speed
e Pull the control lever on the steering wheel to-
ward the steering wheel (Fig. 158) 2.
Brief touch = 1 mph (1 km/h) increments, pull
and hold = 5 mph (10 km/h) increments.
The new maximum speed is displayed on the in-
strument cluster.
Interrupting speed limiter –
CANCEL
e Press the control lever on the steering wheel
down (Fig. 158) 3.

e Press button S on the control lever.
The maximum speed that was stored before the in-
terruption remains stored in the memory and can be
reactivated by pressing the control lever.

Deactivating the speed limiter temporarily by
initiating a kickdown
If the set maximum speed is exceeded by initiating a
kickdown (e.g. during overtaking), a warning signal
sounds and the speed limiter symbol with stored
maximum speed flashes red on the instrument clus-
ter. The speed limiter is deactivated temporarily. If
the vehicle speed drops to below the stored maxi-
mum speed, the speed limiter is activated again.
Driving downhill
The speed limiter initiates braking when driving
downhill. The transmission initiates downshifting to
help slow down the vehicle.
Resuming the stored maximum
speed – RESUME
e Press the control lever on the steering wheel up
(Fig. 158) 4.
The speed limiter is set to the stored maximum
speed.
