Product description MANO EDU is an electronic magnifier for enlarging text and images and for convert- ing and reproducing printed text into synthetic speech. The FullHD 12.5" (approx. 31.8 cm) touch display on a tiltable stand offers an extremely sharp and high-contrast display. -

Setting up MANO EDU Place the device on a flat surface, press the tray to make the device stable and pull up the handle at the same time. Keep pressing the tray and unfold the arms to a suitable angle. -

Distance camera setting up The distance camera is located on the right side of the stand and can be rotated into different positions. Rotate the camera arm counterclockwise backwards until it is in the desired position. The yellow ring can be used to rotate the distance camera to different positions, so that it can also be used as a mirror, for example. -

When the unit is ON, press the ON/OFF button to check the current status of the battery capacity. When the unit is ON, press and hold the ON/OFF button to turn OFF MANO EDU. A menu appears in which you can choose to either switch MANO EDU to standby mode or to turn it OFF. -

Press the home button for 2 seconds or tap the exit icon to close full page reading. Press the TTS button to access the reading aloud function. You can find out more about operating MANO EDU in text-to-speech mode under„Operation in reading mode“ on page 22 . -

Orientation aids in the magnified image Image position Double tap the center of the image to re-center the image (or push the joystick in any direction and press the zoom in button at the same time). Double-tap the at edge of the display to jump to the end of the original image (or press the joystick twice quickly in the desired direction). -

Lighting Show the menu bar and tap the light bulb on the left to switch the entire lighting ON and OFF. By tapping on the lamps on the right, you can switch the left and right LEDs ON and OFF individually. This can be helpful to minimize glare on the reading material. -

Freeze frame function Press the Freeze button on the right side of the device to create a freeze frame. Press the button again to return to live mode. When viewing freeze images, you can change the magnification and color mode as described on page 14. -
Page 19: Autofocus
Briefly press the autofocus button to activate or deactivate it. If you want to write under MANO EDU, turn the autofocus OFF before you place your hand under the display to write something. This will prevent the hand or the pen from being in focus and not the writing. -
Page 20: Document View Of The Distance Camera
(or move the joystick to select and press the TTS button to confirm) to display the image correctly. MANO EDU with a second display MANO EDU can be connected to a second display via the HDMI connection. The optionally available display can be plugged into the rear stand bar. -
Page 21: Read Aloud Function (Text To Speech)
Press the TTS button to capture the displayed image section and switch to reading mode. MANO EDU usually detects and adjusts the image alignment correctly. You can also manually align the displayed image if necessary. Press and hold the camera switch button until the menu bar appears. -
Page 22: Operation In Reading Mode
Operation in reading mode A loading icon appears while the text is being captured. The capture time depends on the structure and amount of the text. When the text is completely captured, the menu bar appears, where you can choose between different settings. Touch the reading speed slider and move it to adjust the reading speed. -
Page 23: Segmentation Deactivated
Segmentation deactivated Here the recorded text is not divided into sections but recognized as continuous text and the active position in the text is highlighted. You can go to another part of the text with the forward/back buttons in the menu bar or via the touchscreen. Tap on the play or pause symbol in the menu bar or press the TTS button to start / stop reading the selected sentence. -

The main menu If you press the home button for approx. 2 seconds, you will get to the main menu, where you can select the following functions: ● Magnifier ● Text to speech (TTS) ● Open document / image ● settings The selected application is highlighted. -

In the second row you can view pictures(5) and texts(6) that you have previously copied from a PC or laptop to your device. Open images Open the pictures folder on the device or SD card. There you can scroll up or down with the slider on the right side of the screen or with the joystick. -
Page 26: Copy Files From A Pc / Laptop To The Device
Copy files from a PC / laptop to the device Connect the device to the PC using a USB-C cable (not included). MANO EDU will appear as a USB drive and you can copy files to the device. Supported image for- mats are JPG, BMP, PNG as well as TXT and PDF for documents. -

Settings The last item in the main menu are the settings. You can choose from the following submenus: Options language settings Device information Tap the submenu you want (or rotate the Color Mode button) to see the available options. Tap on the item to change the settings (or press the joystick to highlight the item and press the TTS button to change it). -

Table mode If you would like to capture the text of a table and have it read out, activate this func- tion so that the order of the individual elements is displayed correctly. -

Handling of the battery Attention: A prerequisite for a long battery life is the correct operation and charging of the battery. Make sure the battery is fully charged before first use of the system. For charging, connect the power adapter with the power port on the left side of the system and plug it into an AC outlet. -
