Ground connection

NOTICE
Before attaching the terminal box cover to the terminal box, check the
glued-in seal at the terminal box cover to verify that it is in a proper state
and at the correct position.
The grounding cable is not included in the scope of delivery for MSTxx1 sta‐
tors in version D303 (= stranded wires led out axially on the stator side). A
threaded hole is provided on the stator front face for the ground connection.
Fasten the ground cable with a ring terminal at the threaded hole. For details
on the exact position and the connection thread of the threaded hole, refer to
the dimensional drawing of the respective motor. The necessary minimum
cross-section of the grounding cable depends on the motor type and can be
seen in the data sheet.
The power wire cross-section specified in the data sheet of the
motor also applies for the grounding cable and must be complied
with.
Observe the supplementary notes about motor connection in
chapter "Connection technology" in the MBT project planning
manual.

Design ground connection - example
Procedure:
1. Clean the contact surface for the screw head. The surface must be bare
metal so that both the spindle housing and the stator are grounded.
2. Screw the grounding cable with cable lug to the end shield using a brass
screw.
3. Grease the connection with petroleum jelly to protect it from corrosion.
If seals are inserted incorrectly or not at
all, the degree of protection of the motor
will be lost!
