Surveying the Pipe
1.
Measure the pipe circumference to an accuracy 1/16 in. ( 2 mm).
IMPORTANT: Do not use a calculated value or a nominal value for the circumference.

Tightly wrap the layout tape around the entire pipe and line up the edges. Use the entire tape for best results.
Using the tape as a template guide, mark a line all the way around the circumference of the pipe.
3.
Line up the zero scale mark of the layout tape at the desired transducer location (e.g., 3 or 9 o'clock) for the first
transducer. Mark a line ( origin line ) at least 12 in. (30 cm) long.
