Closing
Closing button and locking button (example:
Saloon)
Saloon: for vehicles with the boot lid remote
closing feature, you can automatically close
the boot lid. For vehicles with the boot lid
remote closing feature and KEYLESS-GO: you
can simultaneously close the boot lid and lock
the vehicle.
Estate: for vehicles with KEYLESS-GO, you
can simultaneously close the tailgate and
lock the vehicle.
To close: press closing button : in the
X
boot lid/tailgate.
To simultaneously close the boot lid/
X
tailgate and lock the vehicle:
Press locking button ; in the boot lid/
tailgate. The KEYLESS-GO key must be in
the rear detection range of the vehicle.
The boot lid/tailgate closes.
If all the doors are closed, the vehicle locks.

If KEYLESS-GO detects a key in the boot/
luggage compartment, the boot lid/tail-
gate opens again after it is closed.
If KEYLESS-GO detects a second key out-
side the vehicle, the boot lid/tailgate
remains closed.
HANDS-FREE ACCESS
Important safety notes

WARNING
The vehicle exhaust system can become very
hot. If you use HANDS-FREE ACCESS, you
could burn yourself by touching the exhaust
system. There is a risk of injury. Always
ensure that you only make a leg movement
within the detection range of sensors.
! If the key is within the rear detection
range of KEYLESS-GO, situations such as
the following could lead to the uninten-
tional opening of the boot lid/tailgate:
using a car wash
R
using a high-pressure cleaner
R
Make sure that the key is at least 3 m away
from the vehicle.
General notes
Saloon: with KEYLESS-GO and HANDS-FREE
ACCESS, you can open or close the boot lid or
stop the closing procedure without using your
hands.
Estate: with KEYLESS-GO and HANDS-FREE
ACCESS, you can open or close the tailgate or
stop the procedure without using your hands.
This is useful if you have your hands full. To do
this, make a kicking movement under the
bumper with your foot.
Observe the following points:
Carry your KEYLESS-GO key about your
R
person. The KEYLESS-GO key must be in
the rear detection range of the vehicle.
When making the kicking movement, make
R
sure that you are standing firmly on the
ground and that there is sufficient clear-
ance to the rear of the vehicle. You could
otherwise lose your balance, e.g. on ice.
