7 - Fault finding
Liquid system
FAULT
No spray from boom when turned on.
'
Lack of pressure.
Pressure dropping.
Pressure increasing.
Formation of foam.
Operating unit not functioning or having a
malfunction.
100
PROBABLE CAUSE
SmartValve/Pressure valve positions are wrong.
Suction/pressure filters are clogged.
No suction from tank.
Air leak on suction line
Incorrect assembly.
Air in system (Centrifugal pump).
Too much agitation.
Pump valves clogged or worn.
Defective pressure gauge.
Filters are clogging.
Nozzles are worn.
Sucking air towards end of tank load.
Pressure filters beginning to clog.
Air is being sucked into system.
Excessive liquid agitation.
Blown fuse(s).
Wrong polarity.
Valves not closing properly.
No power.
CONTROL/REMEDY
Set correct valve positions for spraying.
Clean suction and pressure filters.
See if suction fitting in main tank sump is free of
sedimentation. Clean if needed.
Check if suction filter O-ring is sealing.
Check tightness of pump diaphragm and valve covers.
Boost valve has a defect (located at the bottom of the
pressure filter). The valve seat is worn or missing.
Fill suction hose with water for initial priming.
Close the agitation valve.
Check for obstructions and wear.
Check for dirt at inlet of gauge.
Clean all filters. Fill with cleaner water. If using
powders, make sure agitation is on.
Check nozzle output. Replace nozzles if the deviation
in output exceeds 10%.
Lower pump r.p.m.
Clean all filters.
Make sure bottom valve on CycloneFilter is not left in
closed position (marked with 1 dot) after flushing
boom. Operating position (marked with 2 dots) keeps
CycloneFilter clean.
Check tightness/gaskets/O-rings of all fittings on
suction side.
Reduce pump speed (r.p.m.).
Check safety valve is tight (diaphragm systems only).
Ensure returns inside tank are present.
Use foam damping additive.
Check mechanical function of microswitches. Use
cleaning/ lubricating agent if the switch does not
operate freely.
Check motor current, max. 450-500 mA. If over,
change motor.
Brown to positive (+). Blue to negative (-).
Check valve seals for obstructions.
Check microswitch plate position. Loosen the screws
holding the plate 1/2 turn.
Wrong polarity. Check that brown is positive (+), Blue
is negative (-).
Check print plate for dry solders or loose connections.
Check fuse holder is tight around fuse.
