PROBABLE CAUSE
Gangs too deep
Excessive speed
Gangs not level across machine
Finisholl not level front to rear
Wing(s) not level with center frame
Spray\dirt shields too high
Hydraulic cylinders not even
Harrow improperly set
Incorrect sweeps
Shanks dragging residue
Shank carrying soil, not scouring
Shanks not positioned correctly
Shank extensions not installed on spring
shanks
Lower spring pivot bolt too tight.
Upper spring bolt too tight.
Shanks not positioned correctly
Sweeps not wide enough
Sweeps set too shallow
Incorrect sweep angle

Hoses not properly connected
Bent\twisted main lift
Tractor valve leaking
Bad fitting/hose
Center frame cylinder leaking internally
on side of unit that wing is raising.
Wing cylinder leaking
Tractor valve not working
Bad couplers
SOLUTION
Raise disc gangs
Reduce speed
Adjust disc gang depth/level gangs
Level unit front-to-rear
Level wing to center section.
Lower shields
Rephase disc gang hydraulics
Repair leaking cylinder\hoses.
Adjust harrow
Use correct sweep angle\smaller
sweeps
Disc gangs set too deep, raise gangs so
sweeps cut firm soil
Conditions wet, residue
Check for proper shank placement
Check for proper shank placement
Lower spring bolt must be loose enough
that spring end casting may pivot
freely.
Should be 1/8 clearance between
jam nut and top spring plate.
Locking jam nut should be tight
against spring end, not top spring
plate
Check for proper shank placement
Use wider sweeps
Increase operating depth
Use 47 degree sweeps
Adjust spring shank.
Repair shank or sweep
Black restrictor fittings should be in rod
end of ifold cylinders.
Fully extend cylinders and hold hydraulic
lever until all cylinders are fully
extended
Install cylinder in proper series. Wing
cylinders are smaller diameter than
center cylinders
Check hose routing
Repair\replace main lift
Unplug unit from tractor, and check if
unit still settling
Repair fitting/hose
