Control cabinet installation

Installation
For high frequency interference currents, the housing of the ADI4 module must be connected
through a low ohmic resistance to the rear panel of the control cabinet, and in turn this panel
must be connected through a low ohmic resistance to the motors/machines. The module should
be installed on a bare metal mounting panel. The mounting panel must be connected to the
motors/machines through a large surface area using an electrically conductive connection.
Coated control cabinet panels and DIN mounting rails, or similar types of installation with a small
contact area, do not meet this requirement.
Cable routing
Power and signal cables must always be routed separately. All signal cables of the I/O interfaces
(X6-1 / X6-2) should be routed away together in a bundle. Single wires that are related from a
signal perspective must be twisted together. Signal cables and encoder cables should be routed
separately.
All cables and conductors in the control cabinet should always be routed as close as possible to
the control cabinet panels. Long cable lengths through open spaces can cause interference to
be coupled-in (antenna effect). Proximity to sources of interference (contactors, transformers,
etc.) must be avoided by placing a shield plate between the cable and the source of interference.
Cables and conductors should not be extended using terminals or similar devices. Signal cables
must be shielded to avoid interference being coupled-in from external sources.
An enclosed control cabinet is required
The module has been designed for operation in an enclosed control cabinet. Operation outside
an enclosed control cabinet is not permissible.

Power supply
ADI4 module
To supply the ADI4 module (+24 VDC), an external power source is needed. The power supply
is connected through terminal X1 (P24EXT1) on the front panel of the ADI4 module. For more
detailed information, refer to the chapter "Interface (X1): External power supply (Page 22)".
Digital outputs
To supply (+24 VDC) the digital outputs, an external power source is needed. The power supply
is connected through Terminal X6-1, Pin 1 (P24EXT2). For more detailed information, refer to
the chapter "Interface (X6-1): Digital outputs (Page 29)".
