significant amount of debris is found, the fuel
tank should be checked and cleaned by a
Yamaha dealer.
1. Fuel filter

Turn the steering wheel fully to port and

starboard. Check that operation is smooth
and unrestricted throughout the whole
range with no binding or excessive free
play.
Operate the remote control lever several

times to check that there is no hesitation in
its travel. Operation should be smooth
over the complete range of motion.
Inspect the throttle and shift cable connec-

tions for damage and looseness.

Engine shut-off cord (lanyard)

Check the engine shut-off cord and clip for
damage, such as cuts, breaks, and wear.

Engine oil

1. Place the outboard motor in a vertical
position (not tilted). NOTICE: If the out-
board motor is not level, the oil level
indicated on the oil dipstick may not
be accurate.
2. Remove the oil dipstick and wipe it
clean.
