SPLIT ROW UNITS

Additional row units spaced halfway between the basic

the model 9831 is used as a 31-row, 15 inch planter.
The split row units are adjusted slightly rearward of the
basic row units, but basic operation of all row units are
identical.

FIG. 24: To lock up and disengage the split row units.
Lower planter to ground. Pull lockout lever (1) from
forward position to the fully rearward position against
spring pressure.
NOTE: Lever is flipped over about 180 degrees from
unlocked position.
Spring tension holds the lockup linkage inward and
overcenter, holding up the row unit linkage.
NOTE: Linkage for lockup must move freely for lockup to
function correctly.
Raise split row unit until lockup snaps rearward
(engages).
m
CAUTION: Row units are heavy! Use a
hoist or place blocks under the opener
discs.
IMPORTANT: Never use seed hopper to lift row unit.
NOTE: Adjusting the row unit down pressure to the
minimum setting will reduce the effort required to
lift row unit.
m
