Field Operations and Adjustments
With the planter fully lowered to the ground, pull lockout
lever forward against spring pressure. Raise split row unit
until lockup snaps forward (disengages), then lower unit to
the ground.
Remove the 45 degree elbow from the air manifold and
remove the plastic cap plug in the Y connector and install
the elbow.
Engage the seed meter drive clutches.
Adjust the marker arm length if required.
Remove the cover plate on the manifold.

Use the chart on the next page to convert seed population
from pounds per acre to actual count.
Seed spacing can also be determined:

Seeds per foot
•
Seed spacing in inches
Example:
Assume 16,000 seeds/lb with a desired seeding rate of
2,000,000 seeds/acre. Row spacing is 10 inches.
Determine number of seeds/lb.
NOTE: Obtain number from seed dealer.
At intersection of 16,000 seeds/lb graph line and 2,000
(seeds/acre in 1000's, left side), read 125 lb/acre
(bottom).
Seed spacing in 0.30 inch with 39 seeds/ft (left side).
