General Information Wheel Assembly Wheel Bearings The wheel bearings for the baler must be cleaned and lubricated at the beginning of each season. See the Specifications division for the correct lubricant. Sealed Bearings Sealed bearings are lubricated for life. Because of the type of seal, lubricant cannot be added.
General Information Shearbolts The shearbolts are used in three different locations for the protection of the components. When a shearbolt shears, the towing vehicle and the baler must be stopped immediately and the problem corrected before baling. Periodically check the bolts for wear and tear or loose nuts.
General Information For a stiff roller chain, soak and wash in solvent to loosen and remove dirt and corrosion from the joints. Soak at least eight hours in oil so the lubricant can go between the rollers and bushings. General Information • Install the bolts for the bearing flanges. Make sure the bearing is straight within the bearing flanges. Tighten the bolts evenly. • Put the locking collar on the shaft. Push the locking collar against the bearing inner race. Rotate the locking collar in the direction of normal shaft rotation until tightly engaged.
General Information FIG. 16: Insert the chisel between the gib key head and the hub. Drive against the chisel with a hammer. Use the narrow side of the chisel for smaller gib keys and the wide side of the chisel for large gib keys. After the hub and gib key loosens, remove the gib key with the pry bar.
General Information Gearbox FIG. 18: Check the oil level with the baler setting on level ground and hitch set to correct operating height. The oil must be level with the bottom of the hole when the oil level plug (1) is removed. Add oil through the fill plug (2) hole on top of the gearbox.
