This guide provides an overview of the Matrix E1 1G694-13 standalone switch, and instructions to
install the 1G694-13, an optional Ethernet expansion module, Mini-GBICs, and XENPAK
modules.
For information about the Command Line Interface (CLI) set of commands used to configure and
manage the 1G694-13, refer to the Enterasys Networks™ Matrix E1 1G694-13 Configuration
Guide.
Note: In this guide, the following terms are used:
•
Switch refers to the 1G694-13.
•
Ethernet expansion module (or simply expansion module) refers to an optional
expansion card that plugs directly into an expansion port slot of the 1G694-13.
•
Mini-Gigabit Interface Card (Mini-GBIC) refers to a smaller optional interface card that
plugs into the front panel ports 9 through 12.
•
XENPAK module or 10GBASE-LR refers to a small 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE)
fiber optic interface module that plugs into the ZPIM1-06 expansion module. The
10GBASE-LR conforms to the XENPAK 10-Gigabit Ethernet standard.
Depending on the firmware version used in the switch, some features described in this document
may not be supported. Refer to the Release Notes shipped with the switch to determine which
features are supported.
