3-3.Connecting W Type(Wire) Link Units

• Connect positive(+) to positive and negative(-) to negative using a shielded twisted pair cable.
• Connect one end of the shielded wire to the frame ground terminal, then ground the F.G. terminal to an earth
ground.

Notes:
• Refer to page 13, "Recommended Cable Specifications" for details about the transmission cables.
• The total length of the transmission cable in a single network should not be more than 800 m /
2624.672 ft..
• A maximum of 32 W Type(Wire) Link Units can be connected in one network.
• Connect the W Type(Wire) Link Units with all power OFF.
• Do not connect both ends of the shielded wire to frame ground. There may be a difference in the
absolute voltage level between the "ground" at one unit and the "ground" at the next unit several
hundred meters away. In this case, current would flow between the two "grounds" and could dam-
age the equipment or interface with communications.
• Be sure not to connect units in a star-burst arrangement as shown below.
