Remote Slab Sensor
NOTE: Maximum distance from sensor to thermostat is 500 feet
(152.4 m).
– Wire runs should be low-capacitance twisted pair wire such as CAT3
(up to 250 ft, 76.2 m) or CAT5 (up to 500 ft, 152.4 m) network cable.
– Other cable types are satisfactory, provided the total capacitance is less
than 7000 pF.
Hardware Hookup
The sensors are connected to the terminal blocks on the rear plastic
housing of the thermostat. Separate the thermostat from its backplate. The
thermostat terminal blocks mate to pins protruding out of the front
thermostat assembly. Up to two sensors of any kind may be connected on
a single channel except the CHV-RTHS, which counts as two sensors
because it measures both temperature and humidity.
Connection Example 1: Connecting one air temperature/humidity sensor
and one slab sensor (a CHV-RTS or a CHV-RTHS and a CHV-RSS) to
the thermostat, each on its own channel.
NOTE: Sensor wiring is non-polarized
6 • Remote Slab Sensor: CHV-RSS
1. Remote sensor 1 (CHV-RTS or CHV-RTHS) connected
to RS1 and RSR to sense air temperature/humidity.
2. Remote sensor 2 (CHV-RSS) connected to RS2 and RSR
to sense floor temperature.
