The illustration shows the components associated with the patient sample
line. The following paragraphs describe the installation of each component.
Insert the reservoir by guiding its rubber port seals into the mounting
bracket's gas flow ports on the left side of the Vitalert 3000 Series
monitoring system. Gently push at the reservoir's base until it rests flat
against the mounting bracket.
Install the Air Filter onto the fitting located to the left of the water trap
reservoir, and connect the PVC sample line to the air filter.
Mount the combination adapter/filter for the sample line between the
endotracheal tube (or face mask) and the patient breathing system. This
filter is intended to prevent particulate contamination of the sample line.
Install the sample line between the adapter/filter and the water trap
reservoir as follows:
1. Insert the male Luer-lock fitting on one end of the line into the
female Luer-lock fitting on the adapter/filter. Twist clockwise until
secure.
2. Insert the male fitting on the other end of the line into the female
fitting attached to water trap reservoir. Twist clockwise until secure.
Take care not to kink or pinch the sample line.
