1. Lift the locking latch on top of the mulching cover. See
Figure 12.
2. Lift the mulching cover. See Figure 13.  
3. Install the side discharge deflector, making sure that the
hooks on top of the deflector are behind the mulching
cover hinge.
4. Lower the mulching cover to lock the side discharge
deflector in place. 
5. To remove: lift the mulching cover, remove the side
discharge deflector, and lower the mulching cover. 
Installing the Mulching Plug
WARNING
Amputation Hazard 
• DO NOT attempt any maintenance, adjustments or
service with engine and blade running. 
• STOP engine and blade. 
• Remove battery (if equipped). 
Burn Hazard 
• Engine and components are HOT. 
• Avoid serious burns, allow sufficient time for all
components to cool. 
1. Raise the rear discharge door. See Figure 14.
2. Install the mulching plug. 
3. Lower the rear discharge door to secure the mulching
plug. 
4. See Mulching Operation. 
5. To remove: raise the rear discharge door, remove the
mulching plug, and lower the rear discharge door. 
Installing the Grass Bag
WARNING
Amputation Hazard 
• DO NOT attempt any maintenance, adjustments or
service with engine and blade running. 
• STOP engine and blade. 
• Remove battery (if equipped). 
Burn Hazard 
• Engine and components are HOT. 
• Avoid serious burns, allow sufficient time for all
components to cool. 
1. Raise the rear discharge door (A, Figure 15).
2. Remove the mulching plug, if installed.
3. Install the grass bag (B, Figure 15), making sure the
hooks on the bag (C) hook to the rear discharge door
hinge (D). 
4. Lower the rear discharge door. 
5. To remove: raise the rear discharge door, remove the
grass bag, and lower the rear discharge door.
WARNING
 Unsafe Operation Hazard 
Grass Catcher bags are made of woven fabric, and are
subject to deterioration and wear during normal usage.
Check condition of bag before each use. Immediately
replace worn or damaged catcher bags with only genuine
replacement bags.

• Wear heavy leather gloves when handling or working
around cutting blades. 
• Blades are extremely sharp and can cause severe
injury. 
MOWER 
Every 8 Hours or Daily 
Check safety interlock system 
Clean debris off mower 
Every 25 Hours or Annually * 
Check mower for loose hardware 
See Dealer Annually to 
Lubricate mower 
Check mower blade ** 
Check mower blade stopping time 
Check drive belt 
Clean battery and cables 
* Whichever comes first 
** Check blade more often in regions with sandy soils or high
dust conditions 
ENGINE
