CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Set the piston at top dead center of the cylinder compression stroke (page 3-12).
Remove the following:
– Engine (page 10-2)
– Control base/governor arm (page 6-2)
– Carburetor (page 5-5)
– Muffler (page 9-2)
After installation, perform the following:
– Check the valve clearance, and if necessary, adjust the clearance (page 3-12).
– Measure the cylinder compression (page 12-5).

(Threads and seating surface)

24 N·m (2.4 kgf·m, 18 lbf·ft)
CORD CLIP STAY
BOLT (6 x 12 mm)
NOTE 1 SPARK PLUG CHECK/ADJUSTMENT/REPLACEMENT
NOTE 2 CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY
Before installation, remove any carbon deposits from the combustion
NOTE 3
chamber and inspect the valve seats.
• When removing, pry off slowly at each corner of the head cover.
NOTE 4 • Using too much force can deform the cylinder head cover. The cylinder
head cover must be replaced if it is deformed.
SPARK PLUG: NOTE 1
18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m, 13 lbf·ft)
