Use o new gosket ond
Tighten setscrews and nuts to the specified torque loading (see TECHNICAL
DATA).

Refill the engine with the recommended o i l .

CONNECTING ROD (BIG-END) BEARINGS

To Remove
Remove the sump.

Commencing with N o .
shaft to facilitate removol of cop. Mark cop and rod.
3 .
Release the bolts b y two or three turns ond top them to release the cap.
Fully release the bolts and remove the cop.
4.
Remove the upper ond lower big-end bearing shells from both the connecting
rod ond the connecting rod cop.
To Replace
1 .
Replace the upper and lower big-end bearing shells by new parts i n their
appropriate locations.
2.
F i t the cap to the connecting rod and tighten the bolts to the torque looding
given i n TECHNICAL DATA.
3.
Replace the remaining big-end bearings b y repeating the above pmcess.
4.
Replace the sump.
The engine and transmission unit should be removed from the vehicle as an ossembly
and the engine separated from the transmission t ~ n i t on the bench or stand.
To Remove
1.
Remove the tailgate.
2.
Drain the cooling system.
3.
Drain the oil from the georbox.
4.
Disconnect the battery.
5.
I n the engine compartment, disconnect the following.
1
(from radiator end) connecting rod, turn the cronk-
