FLAME SENSOR
• The flame detection is carried out by IRD photocell sensitive
to infrared floating radiation. The possible presence of a slight
amount of grease may strongly compromise the passage of the
light radiations, preventing the internal sensitive element from
receiving the quantity of radiations required for proper operation.
Even the simple contact with your fingers can leave a slight
amount of grease that is enough to compromise the operation
of the photocell. Properly clean the bulb before placing it in its
seat. The photocell does not "detect" daylight or the light from
a common lamp. Its sensitivity can be tested using a flame
of a lighter, or of a candle. To ensure a proper operation, the
photocell voltage value must be sufficiently stable and not go
below the minimum value required for the specific equipment.
The check is performed by measuring the voltage values at the
terminals of the panel shown in the wiring diagram.
• When the burner is working at its "minimum" output, adjust the
air in the proper quantities to ensure a good combustion.
• After adjusting the air for the operation at the "minimum" output,
increase the power and proceed to define the operating curve
as described in the equipment manual.
• Check the combustion using the specific instrument at all
intermediate points on the modulation curve.
• Having finished the air and gas flow adjustment, check the
actual gas flow rate by reading the meter. Avoid keeping
the burner running if the heating capacity is greater than the
maximum amount allowed for the boiler, to avoid damaging it.
• With burners with photocellIRD acting as flame sensor, check
the operation of the photocell while the burner is on, by taking it
out from its housing and making sure that a "lock-out" condition
occurs.
• When the burner is working at its "minimum" output, adjust
the air and liquid fuel in the proper quantities to ensure a good
combustion.
• After adjusting the air for the operation at the "minimum" output,
increase the power and proceed to define the operating curve
as described in the equipment manual. It is recommended
to check combustion using the specific instrument at all
intermediate points on the modulation curve.
