2:
Document and/or label each wire that is currently landed on the J2 edge connector.
3:
Unscrew the dimmer output edge connectors from the backplane metal.
4:
Remove the ribbon cables from the cable clamp immediately above the CEM. For SR or
HSR 48 enclosures, also remove the ribbon cabling from the clamp immediately below the CEM.
5:
Carefully feed the dimmer output ribbon cables through the backplane.
6:
Examine each ribbon cable for any nicks or cuts that may have resulted from scraping against the
backplane.
7:
Unscrew the power edge connector (J1). Remove it from the backplane by sliding it out of the
notch in the enclosure and carefully pushing it through the backplane metal. This connector will
be used in the upgrade.
Note:
8:
Unscrew the backplane metal from the enclosure. (There are two screws total—one screw in the
upper corner of each side.) Discard these screws. Replacement screws with thread locker are
provided (ETC part# HW377) for later use.
9:
Push the backplane toward the back of the enclosure to free the backplane side tabs.
10:
Bend the sides toward the center (out of the sides of the enclosure).
11:
Slide the backplane metal forward as far as the wires allow in order to allow easier working space
while removing data terminations.
