Overview

The American Megatrends MegaRAC K1 family of server and system remote
management cards can be accessed from anywhere on your Intranet through an Internet
browser. This is a great way to maintain your critical server when you are nowhere near
it.
This chapter explains how to locate your MegaRAC K1 on your local network using the
KSeek utility.

Locating Your MegaRAC K1

In order to configure your MegaRAC K1 completely, you must access the MegaRAC K1
from another system on the same network. This document refers to this other system as a
client system. To do this, you must know the MegaRAC K1's IP address. If you have
installed the MegaRAC K1 on a network that uses DHCP, you can search the network for
the MegaRAC K1. To locate and find out its IP address, you must install and run KSeek .
Note:
To get or set the IP address on your MegaRAC K1 locally, you can connect to it using the
RS-232 port on the K1 and a standard Telnet client (such as HyperTerminal) in
conjunction with the KSeek Utility.
Follow the steps in the table below to run KSeek:

On a local network computer, place the MegaRAC K1 CD into the CD-ROM drive. Locate the KSeek
program on your MegaRAC K1 CD Disc. It is located in the following directory:
CDROM\RemoteTools\KSeek.exe
Run the KSeek program by double left clicking on it.
