Appendix D
Overview
This appendix explains how to use SConsole. You can access your K1's SConsole
through a Telnet client. This is useful when you do not have a DHCP server on your
network and need to statically assign the IP address to the K1.
Note:
On Linux operating systems, you can use the MiniCom utility. It serves the same purpose
as SConsole.
Prerequisites
You need the following before you begin:
•
a system with a Telnet client (such as HyperTerminal)
•
a K1 serial cable (that ships with your K1)
•
your network's properties (Subnet and Gateway)
•
username and password to access the K1 (if different from the default settings)
Hardware Setup
Attach the supplied K1 serial cable to the RS-232 port. Connect the DB 9-pin female
connector of the serial cable to a system that has a Telnet Client such as HyperTerminal.
SConsole Utility
Plug your Serial Cable
into the port marked RS232
