Disk Properties

Field
Description
Disk Location
This field displays the physical Port location of the physical disk on the Controller and on
which Controller it is attached to. Controller and Port locations are only applicable in the
hardware Physical Disks Management page.
Slot Index
This field displays the slot index number of the physical disk.
Disk Type
This field displays the type of physical disk is being used, such as SCSI,. IDE, SATA and
so on.
Spare Type
This field displays the type of spare that the physical disk is being used as (global,
distributed or dedicated). If it is not being used as a spare, it will display None.
Vendor
This field displays the manufacturer of the physical disk.
Model
This field displays the model number of the physical disk.
Serial Number
This field displays the serial number of the physical disk.
Firmware Version
This field displays the firmware version of the physical disk.
Cable Settings
This field displays the cache setting of the physical disk.
Cache Size
This field displays the cache size of the physical disk.
SMART Capability
This field displays whether or not the physical disk is SMART capable.
SMART Enabled
This field displays whether or not the physical disk has SMART enabled or disabled.
Disk OS Name
This field displays the name of the physical disk as seen by the operating system.
Disk OS Location
This field displays the location of the physical disk as seen by the operating system (if
applicable).
Change cache setting
This field allows you to change the cache setting of the physical disk.

Logical Disk Management

Field
Description
LD Name
This field displays the name of the Logical Disk.
Capacity.
This field displays the capacity of the Logical Disk.
Storage. Pool
This field displays the name of the Storage. Pool if it is part of a Storage Pool.
RAID. Level
This field displays the type of RAID. array of the Logical Disk.
Status
This field displays the status of the physical disk. The physical disk status can be in any of
the following states:
Initializing
Online
Degraded
Failed
Restoring
Expanding
Transforming

Create Logical Disk

To create a Logical Disk, select an available disk from the list of physical disks. Then
select the RAID. Level, adjust the Organization (if applicable), type in the capacity,
select the Cache Option, Stripe Size and select the Spare Type (optional).
The Logical Disk is being initialized.
The Logical Disk is online and ready to use.
This means that one or more disks have failed, but the LD still can be
used. There will be performance degradation.
The Logical Disk has been rendered useless.
The Logical Disk is being restored.
The Logical Disk is being expanded.
The Logical Disk is being transformed.
