PG-40A board
The PG-40A board is the PCI board operating on 33 MHz
with 32 bits.
The BKMA-550 is connected to Ethernet via connection
through an external gateway PC.
The BKMA-550 can be connected to the gateway PC by
installing the PG-40A board in the PCI bus inside the
gateway PC.
The interface circuit with the PCI bus is already installed
inside PLD.
This interface circuit support the bus master transfer
function and realizes the high speed transfer of the video
and audio data.
Communication between the PG-40A board and the IF-860
board is established by connecting the MDR cable.
IF-860 board
The IF-860 board has the following three main functions.
. Executing the flow control command from the gateway
PC
. Buffering of the video and audio data
. Interface with the HDD by SBX
In order to realize the above functions, the four PLDs and
the 384 Mbyte SDRAM are installed in the IF-801 board.
The SDRAM operates on 33 MHz and is divided into the
six banks. By doing it, reading and writing the data can be
performed concurrently.
Because the SBX interface runs at the speed of 27 MHz,
the four PLDs are connected to the SDRAM via FIFO that
is built in the PLDs.
Flow control of the video and audio data is performed by
the CPU that is built in the PLD. Program for the flow
control is also stored inside the PLD.
