Armature
1) Check the armature for wear and damage. Replace if
necessary.
2) Visually inspect the commutator surface for dust, rust
and other damage. If necessary, wipe it with a clean
lint-free cloth or dress with a fine emery cloth.
3) Measure the mica depth. If the grooves are clogged,
clean the grooves and measure the depth again. If the
measurement is less than the service limit, replace the
armature.

1.3 mm (0.05 in)
4)
Check for continuity between each segment. If an
open circuit exists between any two segments,
replace the armature.
5)
Check for continuity between the commutator and
armature coil core. If continuity exists, replace the
armature.

6) Check for continuity between the commutator and
armature shaft. If there is continuity, replace the arma-
ture.
