Enabling and Disabling SMART Changes

You can enable or disable the ability to change the Self-Monitoring
Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) settings for all disk
drives connected to the controller. The setting options are
Enable
I
Disable
I
Don't Modify (default)—Use if you do not want the controller
I
to change any disk drive's SMART settings.
On most disk drives, SMART is disabled by default by the
manufacturer. You may want to enable it if you want disk drives to
be able to recover from errors on their own.
To enable or disable SMART changes
1 Press Menu, choose Controller Menu, then press Enter.
2 Choose the desired controller, then press Enter.
3 Choose Config Menu, then press Enter.
4 Choose Disk Config, then press Enter.
5 Choose SMART, then press Enter.
6 Choose the option you want, then press Enter.
7 Reboot or rescan to have your changes take effect. (See
the Controller on page 5-2
page
5-14.)

Blinking a Disk Drive LED

You can blink the LED of a specific disk drive.
1 Press Menu, choose Controller Menu, then press Enter.
2 Choose the desired controller, then press Enter.
3 Choose Utilities Menu, then press Enter.
4 Choose Drive Util Menu, then press Enter.
5 Choose Blink Drive LED, then press Enter.
6 Choose the disk drive you want, then press Enter.
