Locking the Cache

Some host OSs disable the write-back cache of the controller,
resulting in degraded performance. You can prevent this by
enabling the Cache Lock. (The default setting is Disabled.)
1 Press Menu, choose Controller Menu, then press Enter.
2 Choose the desired controller, then press Enter.
3 Choose Config Menu, then press Enter.
4 Choose Option Config, then press Enter.
5 Choose Cache Lock, then press Enter.
6 Choose the option you want, then press Enter.
7 Press Esc to return to the previous menu.

Enabling and Disabling the Battery

If you do not use a battery in your controller, an alarm sounds. To
eliminate the alarm, you can set the Battery option to Disabled.
(The default setting is Battery Enabled.)
Note: You should only disable the battery if you are
running the controller with an uninterruptable power
supply (UPS), which ensures that you will not lose power
to the controller.
If you set the Battery option to Disabled, the controller does not
issue warning events or disable the write-back cache.
To change the battery setting:
1 Press Menu, choose Controller Menu, then press Enter.
2 Choose the desired controller, then press Enter.
3 Choose Config Menu, then press Enter.
4 Choose Option Config, then press Enter.
5 Choose Battery, then press Enter.
6 Choose the option you want, then press Enter.
7 Press Esc to return to the previous menu.
8 Reboot the controller. (See
Configuring the RAID Controller
Rebooting the Controller on page
5-2.)
