Power Supply Removal and Installation

Power supplies are housed in carriers to allow for easy insertion and removal. The
power supply carrier is also designed for hot swappable operation. If removing
and replacing the same power supply you must ensure that at least one (1) minute
has elapsed between removal and re-insertion. This is necessary to allow compo-
nents to cool to ambient temperatures.
Removing a Power Supply
To remove a power supply unit follow this procedure:
1.
Insert the carrier key and turn it to the left.
2.
With one hand press the eject button on the front of the power supply.
3.
With the eject button still pressed grasp the carrier handle and slowly pull
the power supply out of the Storage Array. Use both hands to support the
weight of the power supply.
Installing a Power Supply
To install a power supply unit follow this procedure:
1.
With the Storage Array in a rackmount, horizontal position, orient the power
supply carrier so that the LEDs are on the top and the ejection button is on
the bottom (left and right, respectively, for vertical, upright Array position).
2.
Insert the power supply carrier into either of the power supply slots of the
Storage Array (see Figure 5-1).
3.
Insert the carrier key and turn it to the left.
4.
Push the carrier into the bay until you feel the power supply engage the
backplane and the ejection button on the front is fully protruded, then turn
the key to the right. If the button is not fully protruded, apply additional
pressure to the front of the device carrier until it is.
