How to fit the subassemblies
of the instrument into place

Warning Ensure that the mains switch (Figure 2–4) on the bottom left of
the back/side panel is in the OFF position. Never operate your instrument
from a power outlet that has no ground connection.
Caution Always connect or disconnect the serial cable when the power is
off.

This section describes the installation setups of the shield plate, the heating
block, the interchangeable KingFisher Flex heads and the transparent lid.

Shield plate

To install the shield plate, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the power is switched OFF.
2. The shield plate has to be installed prior to use of the instrument. Use a
hexagonal screwdriver (Allen key) to fasten the two screws (
