Sequence of assembly
In general terms the sequence of assembly follows the
numbering of the kit components. Please read through the
whole of the building instructions before starting construc-
tion, referring to the Parts List and the plan. You should
have a clear understanding of each stage of construction
before you start work on the model.
Bound into the centre of these instructions you will find a
set of photographs which provide extra information and
visual clarification of many details, together with a compre-
hensively numbered exploded drawing.
Adhesives
Please read and observe the processing instructions sup-
plied by the adhesive manufacturers. The building instruc-
tions state when particular types of glue are to be used.
Preparation
Before you start building the model we suggest that you

sort the individual components according to the stages of
assembly in the instructions, using the Parts List as an aid.
The Parts List also includes information about the nature of
the parts, i.e. whether they are ready-made items or com-
ponents which have to be prepared as shown on the plan.
Laser cut parts should be removed carefully from their
sheets using a sharp knife. Remove rough edges and if
necessary drill holes to the correct size.
With the exception of the hull (part 4), all the vacuum-moul-
ded ABS parts should be cut out along the marked lines,
and holes drilled at the indicated locations. When you need
to sand ABS parts, or along the cut edges of joined ABS
assemblies, we recommend wet-and-dry abrasive paper,
used wet.
Notes on the plan and building instructions
The small bold letters printed adjacent to the plan texts are
references to the foreign-language building instructions.
Directions stated in the building instructions, such as "right-
hand", are as seen from the stern of the model, looking
forward.
RC system
We strongly recommend that you work out the optimum
arrangement of the radio control system before you start
building. If you intend to use components other than those
suggested, you can still use the arrangement shown on
the plan, but you may have to make allowance for minor
differences in component sizes.
Auxiliary working systems
The Neptun can be fitted with numerous auxiliary working
systems. In addition to a fully functional fire cannon you
can also fit a working anchor winch, towing winch, towing
gear and lighting system.
If you wish to do this, you should first decide which extra
systems are to be installed, then mark on the plan the
position of the parts required before you start work on the
model itself. This avoids the problem of having to fumble
about inside the hull when access is not so good. It is a
good idea to purchase the extra parts at the outset, and
install them during the construction process.
These instructions do not describe the installation of the
auxiliary working systems, i.e. the exact details are left to
the discretion of the builder. Photos 43 - 45 show the ar-
rangement of the wiring on the mast with a working lighting
system installed; this is just a suggested arrangement.
General information on painting
The ABS parts must be prepared thoroughly prior to pain-
ting. Wipe the surfaces with paint thinners (white spirit) to
remove all traces of grease, and handle them as little as
possible before applying the paint.
If you wish to obtain a high-quality painted finish with neatly
defined colour panels, it is essential to paint the parts se-
