System Overview

MANUALLY UPDATING DATABASES

Updating databases using a USB device:
1) Prepare a USB storage device with updated databases.
2) Insert the prepared USB storage device into the USB dongle or optional GSB 15.
3) From any page, open the menu and select the System Button. Then, select the
Databases Button.
4) Select the Update Button.
a) The system can display 'Not Ready' for up to two minutes during initialization before
showing 'USB Not Connected' (see following image).
b) A successful connection is indicated by a 'USB Connected' annunciation.
5) Select the USB Button.
6) Select the database(s) to update. Select the Update Selected Button.
Or:
Select the Update All Button.
7) Wait for databases to update. A progress bar is shown for each selected update.
8) When all database updates are complete, select the Restart Unit Button. It is safe to
remove the USB storage device at this time.
Database Concierge
Database Concierge allows wireless transfer of databases from a mobile device while
the aircraft is on ground. A pilot selects and downloads databases inside the Garmin Pilot
application. Transfers occur once a wireless connection is established inside the aircraft.
Database Concierge provides the following features:
• Automatic updates for databases with effective dates
• An internal standby queue for pre-loaded databases that are not yet effective
• Displays database type, cycle, effective date, and transfer progress

To enable Database Concierge functionality, a Wi-Fi connection must be established between
the PED and MFI.
NOTE: SSID and Password Fields are limited to 8 characters.
