External GPS Failure
If configured, the external GPS shall be considered the Primary GPS, and the internal VFR
GPS may be utilized as a Backup GPS. The VFR GPS is continuously being monitored and
compared to the Primary GPS, so that a seamless and automatic transition to the VFR GPS will
be made if the Primary GPS fails.
If all configured external GPS sources fail, the MFI will revert to using the internal VFR
GPS for emergency Direct To navigation guidance and position data on the moving map. In
this case, a system message is generated and Direct To navigation using the internal VFR GPS
becomes available. Direct-to navigation is discussed previously in this section. TAWS/terrain
and SVT features are not available with the internal VFR GPS.
